Kuching Festival 2013: Crowd, Fun & FOOOD!

HELLO! I find myself so enthusiastic in updating my blog recently buahaha! :D

Well, nothing much to do recently, except for the assignments I have. Yes Week 2 and here comes all the assignments! But I'm thankful coz my group members all seem cheerful & proactive! :D I feel bad for always being shy lol.

And I kinda miss the times where I get to watch Running Man continuously ALL DAY. Never get bored of it hee. :)

So as the title says, this post will be about a festival where all Kuching people loves & get excited about! A festival that only happens once a year, for a period of 3 weeks+. AND IT'S KUCHING FESTIVAL! OH YAYYY! *APPLAUSE PLEASE* :DDD HAHA.

Kuching Festival 2013 - Crowd, Fun & FOOOD!

To make it simple, Kuching Fest is actually a large-scale food fair, with some other stalls selling all kind of stuffs, plus a small-scale fun fair with games & rides. So to me, Kuching Fest can be as simple as ALL ABOUT FOOOD!!! HAHAHA.

There are as many as 200 food stalls all over. Obviously this photo only shows part of it.

Fun fair section with games & rides. Not my thing bleh.

Many other stalls selling lots of stuffs like clothes, household appliances & blaaa.

Oh yea, there's also a garden show section, where you get to walk around a park and see fountain, flowers and blaaa. Inside this place, there's also a large floating stage above a man-made lake. There'll be different program schedule each day that will happen on the stage. :)

Garden show in the park! Good place for a leisure walk. :)

Unfortunately I didn't manage to snap a photo of the floating stage,
so I grabbed one from Google Image oops. Credits to Liew T G for this awesome photo!
Omg just compare the quality of this photo with my other photos lol.

Sooo, since I'm so excited about the FOOOD part lol, I'm gonna blog about my TOP 3 favourite food in Kuching Festival this year! Muahahaha. :3 There's no specific ranking for this. It's just my personal  TOP 3 MUST-EAT FOOD heh. :P

MUST-EAT #1: POPIA ICE-CREAM(花生卷冰淇淋)

Well this name is actually created by me coz the original name is supposed to be Peanut Ice-cream instead. BUT Popia Ice-cream sounds better righttt hahaha. I've been loving this since many years ago! And to be honest, I'm looking forward to this the MOST! Ice-cream coated with crushed peanut & sugar wrapped in a popia skin. It's really GOOOD! *drools*

MUST-EAT #2: TAIWAN SAUSAGES(台湾香肠)

This may seem common but yes, it's just another must-eat in the list when you go to any food fair. Comes in a variety of flavours like Original, Garlic, Cheese, Spicy & Black Pepper. I personally fancy Garlic flavour alot! I love garlic! Garlic is GOOOD! :D

MUST-EAT #3: TAKOYAKI(章鱼烧)

This is YUMMY! A very delicious Japanese snack in ball-shaped filled with diced octopus and mayonnaise inside! And of course, more mayonnaise plus dried bonito flakes for the toppings. Damn nice! Another must-eat! ;)

Well, there are new food around as well but some doesn't seem appealing to me so I didn't actually try them all. There're also lots of other food I've tried but didn't get to capture photos of them. Too hungry? Maybe hahaha!

Fried Siobee, Cha Kueh & XL Chicken Chop.
Here are few food photos that I still managed to capture haha!
And fried siobee (top left) is definitely one of the must-eat food by boyfie hee.

[Updated] Tornado Potato Twister, Scallop-Q Special & Germany Lolli-pork.
Some of the new food I've tried. Well, the left one isn't new actually haha!
The bbq scallop thingy is a Taiwanese snack & it's the new hit this year! You can see long queues everyday!

[Updated] More food: Taiwanese salted chicken popcorn, durian crepe and honey bbq chicken wings!
New discovery: Just find out that Taiwanese oyster mee sua is damn yummy too! Really love it! :D

Oh and here are some random REMINDERS for early preparations if you're heading to Kuching Fest.

1. Weather check.
Always bring an umbrella if it seems like raining soon. On the 1st day I headed to Kuching Fest with my family and relatives, unfortunately it rains! T.T Almost all wet coz of the huge rain! But luckily the rain doesn't last long and we still get to sit down and enjoy our food. :)

My cousin sis & I on Kuching Fest~ My closest cuzzie! :)

2. Getting a car park.
Especially during Fridays or weekends. Damn a lot of cars even along the roadside! So, go as early as possible, or erm well, it sometimes depend on luck to get a car park so, GOOD LUCK! HAHA.

3. Getting a seat.
If you want to sit down and enjoy your food there, you'll have to be early and 'reserve' a seat for yourself. Or just depend on your luck again and see if there's any people getting off then you can take over the seat haha! Another option is to eat your food on the spot OR bring home / somewhere else to eat in which my boyfie & I always do that haha.

4. Being in a hot / stuffy / sweaty condition.
Applicable after a hot day with no signs of cool / rain weather condition. Yes this is unavoidable as there are LOTS of people especially on Fridays / weekends. Damn a lot of people that sometimes you have to squeeze through the crowd to get to another place. So, you can imagine it. It's almost like going for a BBQ party. So, you don't have to wear like a jacket or sweater, and it's best for girls to get your hair all tied up as well.

It's funny that the other day the smart me put on a snapback and thinking it would look cool and all but ended up drenched in sweats lol. :3 Oh and bringing tissue might help as well. It can help in cleaning up after eating too!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, that pretty much wrap up what I wanted to share about Kuching Fest. I've been there for like 5 times or more already heh. And the last day of Kuching Fest will be on 4th of August. Will definitely visit again SOON hehe.

Till then, will update again soon! Buh-bye! An nyeong! :) Time for assignments now NOOO! T.T
